CSTB certified software testers are being recognized as the most successful software testers in Canada because the practical certification scheme, focuses on the software testing knowledge and skills that software testers need every day.

The CSTB was founded on January 12, 2007 offering ISTQB certification exams in English. On January 15, 2008 the CSTB introduced certification exams in French. Since then, candidates have an option to register for certification exams in either English or French.

In a survey conducted by the ASTQB (American Software Testing Qualifications Board), 89% of the software testers that took the survey indicated that they are more valuable to their organization since receiving their first ISTQB software testing certification.  83% of the software testers also indicated they are more systematic in their testing.
