The International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB®) is proud to announce that, as of June 2013, it has issued more than 300,000 software testing certifications world-wide.
These span the entire suite of certifications, comprising the Foundation Level and the three Advanced Level modules: Test Manager, Test Analyst and Technical Test Analyst.
“We are delighted with this result,” said ISTQB® President Chris Carter, “because it demonstrates the value employers and practitioners see in the certifications we offer. Many skilled volunteers have spent countless hours in developing our syllabi, exams and glossary and this is an acknowledgement of the excellent work they have done, for which I am extremely grateful.”
ISTQB® is now working on new Foundation extensions for agile and model-based testing, and on a new layer of modules at the expert level, comprising test process improvement, security testing, test automation and expert test management.
“Our commitment is to support testing professionals throughout their career path,” said ISTQB® Marketing Working Group Chair Gualtiero Bazzana. “This is why we are extending our product portfolio, both in vertical and horizontal directions. And with a growth rate of approximately 50,000 new certificates per year, we are likely to achieve half a million certificates issued by June 2015”.
The ISTQB® syllabi are available for free in many languages and people can acquire the necessary knowledge through self-study or by attending courses delivered by training providers accredited by ISTQB®. Accreditation of training providers ensures a consistent level of high quality instruction. Certification exams are available world-wide.
