Foundation Level

The 2018 Foundation Level qualification is suitable for anyone who needs to demonstrate practical knowledge of the fundamental concepts of software testing including people in roles such as testers, test analysts, test engineers, test consultants, test managers, user acceptance testers and software developers.

ISTQB® Certified Tester Foundation Level – Agile Tester (English/French)

Agile testing follows the principles of agile software development as outlined in the Agile Manifesto. A tester on an Agile project will work differently than one working on a traditional project. Testers must understand the values and principles that underpin Agile projects, and how testers are an integral part of a whole-team approach together with developers and business representatives.

ISTQB® Certified Tester Specialist – Automotive Tester (English)

The Usability Tester is also able to explain the rationale, process and results of usability, user experience and accessibility evaluations to non-specialist stakeholders.

Advanced Level

ISTQB® Certified Tester Advanced Level – Test Manager (English/French)

An Advanced Test Manager is able to manage a testing project by implementing the mission, goals and testing processes established for the testing organization. As such, the Advanced Test Manager organizes and leads risk identification and risk analysis sessions and uses the results of such sessions for test estimation; creation and implementation of test plans; and the monitoring and control the test activities to achieve project objectives.
The Advanced Test Manager also manages the test team; identifies skills and resource gaps; creates related skill development and staffing plans; and leads test process improvement initiatives.

ISTQB® Certified Tester Advanced Level – Test Analyst (English/French)

The Advanced Level Test Analyst qualification is aimed at people who wish to develop further their expertise in test analysis and design. The Advanced Test Analyst is able to determine the appropriate testing techniques and functional test types using a proper prioritization, to ensure that tests provide an adequate level of confidence, based on defined coverage criteria.

The Advanced Test Analyst also effectively participates in requirements / user story reviews with stakeholders, and improves the efficiency of the test process with the use of tools.

ISTQB® Certified Tester Advanced Level – Technical Test Analyst (English/French)

An Advanced Level Technical Test Analyst is able to recognize and classify the typical risks associated with the performance, security, reliability, portability and maintainability of software systems, and is able to provide technical elements to the implementation of tests to mitigate such risks. The Technical Test Analyst is also able to select and apply appropriate white-box test techniques and effectively participate in reviews with developers and software architects to improve the quality characteristics of code and architecture.

Furthermore, the Technical Test Analyst is able to outline the concepts, technical issues and cost/benefit to be expected from test automation, and select appropriate tools to automate technical testing tasks.

ISTQB® Certified Tester Expert Level – Strategic Test Management (English)

The ISTQB® CTEL-TM–Strategic Management content within the CTEL-Test Management syllabus considers the purpose of testing or the test mission, and the relation between the test policy, the test strategy, and the test objectives. It addresses the effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction metrics for the test policy objectives. Integrating tools across the organization and testing as part of a larger set of quality management activities necessary to deliver quality software products and services are included, as well as the management of external relationships, most especially the merging of test strategies with third party organizations. Part 1 of the CTEL-TM also looks at the test management considerations for different project lifecycle models.

For Part 2 of the CTEL-TM certification, refer to CTEL-TM-OTM and for Part 3, refer to CTEL-TM-MTT. All 3 Parts are required to be CTEL-TM certified.

ISTQB® Certified Tester Expert Level – Operational Test Management (English)

The ISTQB® CTEL-TM-Operational Test Management content within the CTEL-Test Management syllabus considers the skills needed for the Test Manager to manage third party relationships including contractual, communication, integration, and verification of quality aspects. It covers the ability to create, build, and maintain relationships with other managers and other teams, as well as project management skills, including project risk management, and organizing and moderating effective retrospective meetings. Reporting and interpreting test results by evaluation of exit criteria is elaborated upon, and metrics are described which play a crucial role in the management of the test process. Release considerations for the Test Manager are also highlighted.

For Part 1 of the CTEL-TM certification, refer to CTEL-TM-STM and for Part 3, refer to CTEL-TM-MTT. All 3 Parts are required to be CTEL-TM certified.
