BMM has provided professional technical and regulatory compliance services to the gaming industry since 1981. As the longest established, most experienced private gaming certification lab in the world, BMM understands the value of professional development for testing staff choosing to partner with ISTQB. BMM is an ISTQB Platinum partner reaching the second highest partnership threshold.

The CSTB recently sat down with Jen Leger, Director of QA at BMM, to discuss ISTQB partnerships, certification, and key qualities BMM looks for in software testers.

Why did BMM choose ISTQB for the certification of its QA staff?
BMM believes, if done correctly, the benefits of QA positively impact business outcomes, not just QA costs. Organizations can maximize the profit per product, drive more product to market, raise the quality, minimize the risk, be first to market, as well as, improve SDLC velocity and reduce SDLC costs. We wanted to partner with an organization who shared our vision.  And, ISTQB shares this philosophy. Their V methodology allows us to rapidly provide these benefits to all of our clients.

In terms of our QA staff, at BMM we have created a culture of QA professionalism and training. We have defined tester and management levels. Our staff understand what is needed of them to move to a higher level in the organization. To be promoted they need to perform extremely well, but they must also continue to take both technical and soft skill training. We selected the ISTQB training curriculum as it best reflects our objectives and approach to provide the best value to our employees.

As an ISTQB Platinum partner, what impact has this had on BMM?
The ISTQB partner program has helped us implement a culture of continuous improvement, both in performance and knowledge within our QA teams. For our employees, this partnership has focused them on the professional requirements of working in QA at BMM. It also shows them how vital their role is in the software development lifecycle. For our clients, this partnership demonstrates our commitment to the continuous improvement of our QA methodology, approach, knowledge, and resources.
